Past six months there has been attention to the development of the computer. Today you can get image and sound from a computer, which was previously not the case; then image and sound were separated worlds and a computer was in fact just a quick calculator. Here you see a minicomputer from 1972. The computer works among others with large removable hard disks of about 2 MB. A present iPhone 7 could have a memory of 256 GB, which are in fact 128 000 of such large hard disks, a tower of about 5000 meters high!

Below you can see the inside of an IBM 026 punch card machine getting cleaned and serviced; early computer technology from 1949. Early computers had no keyboard or display, but were fed by punch cards, cards with holes. In the museum you can see old self playing musical instruments fed by paper with holes; they are in fact early computers!

This punch card machine has played a key role in 2013 in an art / music project in Cologne: punch card music (photo left).

Of course, the museum shares knowledge. Also Many  exhibitions are visited.  Left you see Klaus Crössmann of the Institut für neue Technische Form  (INTeF) in Darmstadt (Germany). Until March 11 you can see here a design exhibition on the subject of the TV, paying attention to the disappearance of the third dimension in the current flat devices.

Here, a new Rack is made for the design section. This is all done in-house.

Here is an "action shot" of Zangvereniging Vriendenkring Steyl (64 singers, founded in 1883),
celebrating the Saint Cecilia feast day in November.

JULY 2016

In the museum are demonstrated, among other devices, automatic musical instruments. Apart from that you can often hear live music by musical visitors. Many choirs, musicians and singers have filled the space with beautiful sounds, amateurs and professionals, unknown and known. Here some pictures of young musical talents from the "topklas muziek" of the Valuas college from Venlo during a museum visit in June 2016.

On april 23, 2016 took place in the museum the annual meeting of the "Nederlandse Pianola Vereniging". An inspiring event with many musical and technical talents.

This year will be celebrated the fifth anniversary of the museum, the museum opened to the public 5 years ago. In those five years, the museum has developed into a leading museum on the history of sound and image. The last five years there is invested a lot in purchases, so the museum is even more interesting for everyone, also for repeat visit. Expansion with an exhibition room and a film room could not be realized; thereby individual visit is still not possible. The museum works so far without subsidy, for the future that is no longer possible.

Some purchases in 2015
Now the film equipment from the cinemas is removed, it is important for the museum to keep "film" alive. Consequently, recent projection equipment of Kinoton, Ernemann and Cinemeccanica is purchased. Endpoint and culmination of a more than one hundred year old film projection history.

In the field of amateur film equipment must be mentioned that the museum has come into the possession of the collection Zuppelli (Germany).

Jutta and Rolf Zupelli

Also in the field of design, a lot of interesting equipment has been added. Design is one of the main pillars of the museum.

The reception room is enriched with a pipe organ. This pipe organ is in 1961 created by Verschueren Orgelbouw Heythuysen for the reformed church in Emmermeer (Emmen). Intention is that this organ will be also self-playing.

JULI 2015
Visit from mr. Song-Muk Son from South-Korea and Deputy (provincial minister) Ger Koopmans.

Song-Muk Son
On april 20 Song-Muk Son, president of the three large private technical museums in terms of image and sound in South-Korea (Gangneung City), visited the museum, along with his general manager Soo Un Nam.

Possibilities for cooperation are discussed. Also is talked about the creation of a "global think tank".

The Korean museums currently receive 500,000 visitors a year.

Ger Koopmans
On June 17 Ger Koopmans, Deputy of Finance, Sport and Culture of the province of Limburg has visited the museum. He will investigate whether a financial support of the province for the museum is possible.

March 2015
Another year passed. Last year several new highlights were presented.

On the left you can see the studio camera from Oswaldus Douven from Leopoldsburg (Belgium). Mr. Douven (1922-2007) was a photographer
and a painter. There are many things to tell....

In 2014 the museum shop opened its doors. You can buy here nice and interesting items.

The museum could not realize all the plans in 2014. It is difficult without sponsorships.

Here you can see the dutch artist Rik van Rijswick presenting a recent made bronze sculpture (2014), called "Wachter".

For more information see www.rikvanrijswick.com .

January 2014
A new year started. In the museum you can see some new interesting items. For exemple the Orchestrion Jazz-Band-Rex.

The Jazz-Band-Rex is produced by Limonaire & Frères (Paris) in 1898.

February 2013
In 2012 we have seen a strong and sustained growth in visitors numbers.
We are pleased to announce that we added several very interesting new pieces to our collection.

Later this year you can find the church bells of the closed St. Lambertuschurch in Blerick in our museum. Late 2013 we will present an automatic chime (14 bronze bells).

APRIL 2011
The museum has so far completed, visitors can be received.
It was started in 2010. Various (warm) groups meanwhile visited the museum. There was an enthusiastic response,
which works very stimulating for the future.

Description of the objects is lacking yet, this will still involve some time. However, because of the oral explanation,
this has a low priority. There need some cabinets to be purchased and the lighting should to be improved at some
points; this can only be achieved with grants / sponsorship.

In the museum there is a dynamic developing process with attention to past, present and future.
